Travel Diary: Some of My Favourite Beauty Bits

I was a bit stumped when I was taking photos for these because I didn't know whether to do this as a What I'm Loving post or just a miscellaneous one because I wasn't sure what I wanted feature.

The reason being is because I wanted to focus a post on the products I used while I went for vacation because I thought it would be interesting, for me at least, to see how I would handle not having access to all of the make up/beauty products I own, and having to limit myself with what I was able to bring.

Also truthfully, as I was uploading the photos onto here, I realized I forgot some other products that I used and loved and I literally did a face palm because I didn't want to redo the shots again.  I think the next favourites would be an actual What I'm Loving post so I'll integrate the few onto there too.

To start off, if you haven't noticed with the last few posts... I did go the Philippines and one of the things I knew would happen would be trying to be strategic with what beauty stuff to bring.

Here is why:

  •  I would be going for a month. So I would need products that would last me that amount of time (which in reality, isn't hard but you know)
  • The weather! Over there is very hot, very humid and even sticky. I had to find products that would beat the heat, literally.
  • Understanding it was vacation mode and knew that it would have been nice for that easy, breezy, unkempt look, but I also knew I wanted to bring products that could also elevate and enhance my look in case I did want to add more! So finding that balance was key.
  •  Travel restrictions. I didn't want to bring a ton of make up, but also knew I didn't really want to pack most of it in my checked in luggage because I am paranoid of it breaking, spilling and falling apart in my luggage.  Because despite being make up, they are sensitive to that and really, it would sucks to find it damaged.. That, and also what if wanted to touch up on the plane before landing? Yep. I took all of that into consideration. Most of my make up and brushes were actually packed onto my carry on. So, success.
So now you know my thought process here are some of the things I brought, lived by and was really happy I packed them. No regrets.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 FPS: Long ago, I did a make up/beauty post and talked about how much I loved and used Aveeno's daily moisturizer. To this day, I still use it as my moisturizer! And I didn't hesitate to bring it along with me. The only difference was that this had more SPF than the regular one. The regular one has SPF 15, this one was double the amount and I knew I wanted the most because it is extremely hot and full of sunshine over there. Protection for my skin is always key! I also opted for this one because it was a smaller bottle that carried less (perfect for carry on restrictions) and so it was a win-win.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance: In reality, I did bring a tiny tube of foundation with me just in case I wanted coverage. I knew in my gut, I wouldn't use it that much but I don't know, I wanted the option in case I wanted to. I ended up being mostly right because I just used the foundation maybe twice? throughout my stay. I only ended up using the foundation primer on top after moisturizing. I loved it because although it is used primarily as a base, because of that radiant tint it just added a dewy glow to my face no matter what. It also provided such a good base to what was layered on top. I also talked about it here

MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix +: Again, I talked about this (here) in detail before (it still is one of my faves) but I brought this along because this provides such a good refresher (did I mention how hot it was? Yeah. Repeating it again, the emphasis is needed) but also for the days (which to be real, most days) I had make up on, this is such a good finishing spray to just melt that powdery feeling on my face. You know when you feel caked and just eh? This solves that. As you spray this, not only will you feel refreshed but it just provides that layer to make all of your make up sealed and look most natural.

Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen: I think the one is an obvious one. I knew it was going to be killer when it came to the heat and the sunshine and sunscreen was never an option for me. I liked this one in particular because it felt light weight upon lathering it on and it didn't dry sticky and soon after applying, it didn't feel icky or anything. It was like it wasn't there. It also has a nice scent to it too. So no complaints here!

Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder: This one deserved it's own picture because I haven't talked about it yet and this was my first time fully using it! In general, I'm not too fond of washing my hair on the daily because it dries out my hair and overall, you keep hearing it's not as needed. Finding a dry shampoo is a must! I love my Batiste one (talked about that here) but I wanted a smaller one for travelling purposes and also to be safe, a powder was preferred.

I forgot who I was watching on YouTube that talked about this, I'm pretty sure it was Claire Marshall (love her) but a few more I believe had talked about this, so before I jetted off, I bought this and liked it.

It is pricey (for my liking, really) but like the bottle says, it's equal parts dry shampoo, style extender, and volume in a pinch. I love the nozzle it is provided with so it adds that control on how much you really need. It also smells good! Which is a plus. I always added to my roots when it was coming to that oily phase and was impressed at how much it helped. And knowing it could also be used as a styling product was a plus because adding it to my newly curled curls helps a lot with the volume. I still use it now because there's still enough in there. A little goes a long way.

So make up. I 'm going to try not to fully go into details because haha, I mentioned all of them onto previous posts as well!

Here's what was most important for me!
  • Brows, brows, brows.
  • Lashes, lashes, lashes.
  • That highlight and that dash of bronze to add to that sun kissed look.
  • The pop of blush to add more to that sun kissed look.
  • I forgot my lip creams but those were the best because of the lasting power, I didn't feel the need to reapply as much.

They're Real Tinted Lash Primer + Roller Lash Mascara from Benefit Cosmetics: I live by the They're Real Tinted Primer because it's the multi-functional product that everyone loves. You can use it alone or as a base and gets the job no matter what for that falsie effect! That with my Roller Lash? The best combo in my opinion. Previous posts: here + here

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette: Again this one takes the cake for me. Travel friendly and just enough pigment for that light highlight, contour/bronze I can't live without. So happy I decided to bring this one. I talked about this in more detail here!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Riff: I brought a mini palette of shadows again just in case I wanted to amp of my look but I always ended up just using this eye shadow just on my crease and on my bottom lash line to just emphasize my eyes and to add more life to them. I love the shade because it's such a nice shade of brown so it's just looks natural and combined with the mascara, you look just as great but in half amount of time. Easy peasy! Previous post: Here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil in Dark Brown: Simple. I needed to groom my brows. This is still by far, my favourite. I still haven't used one up (it's lasted such a long time!) and the brush at the end is great because it's one less thing to bring. Previous post: Here

Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop + MAC Cosmetics Blush in Peaches: I also talked about these two a lot in the past on here but ugh, so so pretty together. This combined with the MAC Fix +? Perfection! It just adds such a nice pop of colour and shimmer onto your face without being too much. It's so perfect for the Spring and Summer. And so, it was so perfect for being over there. That concludes my favourites! Are there any new things you've been loving? I am always wanting to be in the know of such things. Hope you guys have a wonderful day!
